After a wonderfully sunny Monday in England, we were soon doom and gloomed this evening by the pouring rain and I’m sick of the English weather. I have booked 6 Italian sunshine filled days in Italy this July and I’m counting the hours until I’m sat in 40 degree heat with an iced coffee in the ‘rectangle of gold’. As an Italy obsessed traveller who is slowly making my way up and down the home to the fashion capital, I thought I better get clued up on the catwalk. Farfetch have challenged me to put together my dream suitcase for a weekend away and given that I plan to bump into Kimye on the high streets of Milan, I thought I best take them up on it (mainly so that I can use my friendship with Kim to befriend Kourtney but that’s a whole different ball game)
DENIM ARRIVAL –
Make no mistake, Italy is HOT and Milan is a commercial hub so it’s constantly busy. Arrive in style but arrive comfortably in a midi denim dress by the babe that is Stella McCartney. Not only is it a good choice for the unpredictable England on departure but its loose, has a few pockets which is perfect for travel andddd it’s denim – so basically an AW16 winner.
CULOTTE YOUR WAY TO CULTURE –
This summer I am addicted to culottes but culottes by Emilio Pucci are just a dream. Farfetch stock these floral beauts which are perfect for a day of eyeing up the Duomo cathedral or witnessing Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’. Culottes are super comfy, light and there are too many ways you can wear them which makes packing for a long weekend a little less painful. To team up your fancy pants, all you need is an off the shoulder to get your tan on (as lets face it, you may as well catch the sun whilst you shop) and I am in love with the plain white ruffled tee by Alaxander Mcqueen. Flats are a must for day-goers so I’ll be packing some trainers or hunting down some comfy sandals.
TOTE-ALLY ITALIAN –
Taking a big enough bag for a day of travel around the shopping haven that is Milan, is a must. Save enough space for a cold drink, your camera, spare lippy and coin purse for all those ice creams. Packing a tote, is not only safer than a backpack but they are cuter and versatile and this lemon sicily tote by Dolce & Gabanna would ‘totes’ be on my list for this outfit.
FINE DINING –
Milan is known for its Michelin stars so I will for sure be taking something fancy to wine and dine in for the evenings. I love love this Roksanda Contrast Sleeveless Dress. A short dress to get the pins out, highlight any tan and showcase the stripes of AW16 gets my vote as my dream outfit for an evening in Italy. Pair this with some killer black mules like these beauts by Gianvito Rossi and you’ll be nabbing Italian dates to the Teatro all Scala quicker than you can say Moschino.
Get yourself some high-end sunnies, and a classic black wide brim hat and you’re good to go with any outfit. Of course, this is a dream. Although I am whisking myself off to Milan in July to delve into the world of high end fashion, I’m sat window shopping in my pjs and on my third tub of ice cream. NOT LONG TO GO AND IT’LL BE SUMMER KIDS.
What would you pack for a fashion filled weekend away? If you’re as useless as me when it comes to weekend packing (because a girl gotta have options) take a look at the life saver Style Hub from Farfetch.
Milan – I’ll be seeing ya!
