A LITTLE CATCH UP

Oh ‘ello. It’s been a while (the entirety of August pretty much) and I’m on a train home from Birmingham after a meeting so thought I’d catch you up. How ya been?

August has been good for me (despite being potless), I’ve been up to lots, had a nice break from work to go camping for a few days in Plymouth (in the rain but was beaut even still), I got a part time job waitressing for some extra money and whilst I know I’m going to be knackered, I’m motivated to stick at it for a little while to gather a bit of extra cash and lose a bit of weight (hopefully) – only went and did 28,000 steps in my last shift which is likely more than I’ve done this year so far *face palm* I’ve been in a bit of a rut and have mixed feelings about the last few months of 2019. I had a bit of an epiphany that I love working where I do and every time I seriously think about leaving for good, I feel a bit sick but I’m just not 100% sure I love what I do and that’s next on my list to tackle.

We had our housewarming party at the beginning of month and I was full of love after catching up with my best friends – I’m still in complete awe of my home and excited to get thinking about Christmas decs (too early?)

Our bedroom is finished – we spent over two weeks on an air bed (bloody good air bed though tbf) but our room is finally rid of the ancient wallpaper and orange ceilings and feels so good to be done. Still no curtains and our window is drilled half open but we’ll sort that before winter actually arrives. That’s basically the last of the decorating and feels good to just be at home, with my candles, watching trashy TV on my sofa and fighting over who makes the tea. Don’t wanna see another paint brush for a while!

I took the day off work and went to Thorpe Park and also had a day brunching with the girls which is my favourite, especially when it involves bottomless prosecco and a lot of good food. The best days.

I’m ready for August to end now that I’ve got 41p left in my bank and excited for September and October to make some changes, be productive and start getting cosy.

Things I’ve been loving?

Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares – Charlie and I have been binge watching the USA Kitchen Nightmares and I’m obsessed. Why is he such a babe plz?

Baking – So pleased that I’m back into baking and have been making non stop banana bread (I’ll share my recipe soon as it’s bloody good) viccy sponges and I’ve also whacked out a few easy crumbles (made an apple one for Charlie’s birthday last night) Plus, Bake Off is back and that’s alllll the inspo I need.

School holiday traffic – Getting to work in 45 minutes compared to the usual hour has been bliss, not entirely sure how I’ll get back into leaving before 7am.

Audiobooks – My neighbour lent me City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert and as I haven’t read a book properly for a while and the book is a beast, I have been part listening to it on Audible and I’m already half way through! Such a good way to crack through a book if you don’t have the time (or make the time) to sit and have a read.

Spending more time in Richmond – one plus now that I’m waitressing is that I’m spending more time in Richmond which is only 10 mins from me now and I luuurve it. I haven’t done too much exploring but it’s on the list for this weekend to sit by the river and have a drink for Charlie’s birthday.

Evenings – I’ve been making a real effort to have a cosy evening, lighting some candles, getting out the tea and biscuits and putting on a film (or Gordon) and its been so good to have some wind down time and appreciate the evenings a little more so that when I’m not working, it really feels like I’m making the most of it and having a good rest.

Heatwaves – We’ve had a good few hot days and it’s my favourite thing, being out in the sun, having bbq food and a drink with friends, going for picnics by the river, working outside and chilling in the garden with a coffee plus it’s been a dream hanging the washing out and it being dry within the hour although this hasn’t been so good since the tropical weather over the last couple of weeks.

***

I plan to be better in September, bit more content, few new posts. Gonna do my best to stay motivated and positive and work towards getting everything sorted that I’ve been stressing over. We’ll get there.

Happy hump day!
